Romans 6:4 states that “We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life”. When a person is submerged in water, it represents their death to sin and emerging from water represents the cleansed, holy life that follows their salvation in Jesus. Baptism, essentially, is an outward expression of your commitment to follow Jesus.
