The Power of Two Letters

Mar 29, 2026    Pastor Ezra Stanton

Ever ignored a call because you didn’t recognize the number… then realized it mattered? This message goes after that exact moment, because a lot of life gets decided by what you do with a simple prompt.

In The Power of Two Letters (Acts 9:10–18), Ezra walks through the story of Ananias, an ordinary believer with no platform, no spotlight, and no big resume. God speaks his name, gives him an assignment, and the whole thing boils down to two letters: Go.

The problem is, Go is easy to preach and hard to obey. Ananias pushes back with what sounds like pure logic. Saul is dangerous. Saul is the guy with the reputation. Fear has receipts. But Ezra makes it clear: fear always sounds responsible until it makes you disobedient. It doesn’t just keep you safe, it keeps you silent.

Then comes the shift. Ananias sees a threat. God sees a chosen instrument. Ananias sees danger. God sees destiny. And when Ananias finally moves, everything changes. He shows up, lays hands on Saul, and says two words that hit like a sledgehammer: Brother Saul. Scales fall. Sight returns. A future apostle steps into a new life.

Here’s the detail you can’t miss: Saul was praying before Ananias ever moved. God was already working on the person Ananias was afraid of. Which means the person you’re nervous to text, invite, or talk to might be searching too.

This isn’t about hype. It’s about obedience. Pick one person. Pray first. Invite simply. Stop negotiating with fear. And go, because your yes might be the answer to someone else’s prayer.
