Fear Not: Fear of Where You Stand with God
If you’ve ever laid in bed and felt your mind replay everything you’ve ever
done wrong, you’re not alone. In this message from Mission Church, we
finish our Fear Not series with a fear many people carry quietly: fear of
where you stand with God.
From Luke 2:8–11, we step into the night the angels appeared to
shepherds. We usually picture shepherds like they were VIPs in the
Christmas story, but in real life they were overlooked, untrusted, and
labeled unclean. So when the angel shows up, their fear makes sense.
They aren’t just startled. They feel exposed. And yet, God chooses them
first. Not the impressive. Not the polished. The people religion left out.
This message gets real about the three feelings that sit underneath that
fear. Unworthy, when you look fine in public but feel far from God in private.
Inadequate, when comparison makes you feel small even when God is
close. Unloved, when pain and rejection start lying to you about God’s
heart.
Then Romans 3:20–22 brings the clarity we all need. You cannot earn
God’s acceptance. The law shows you your need. And you are made right
with God by placing your faith in Jesus Christ. Not Jesus plus effort. Not
Jesus plus perfect church attendance. Faith in Christ, full stop.
Christianity was never meant to be a performance. It’s a rescue. God didn’t
send a list. God sent a Savior. And there is no shortage of mercy, grace, or
love.
If you’re the person who hesitates when asked where you stand with God,
this message is for you. Watch to the end, and let the good news settle the
fear.
