DAY 2

[Read: 1 John 1:8–10]

📖 NIV: “If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”

📖 MSG: “If we claim that we’re free of sin, we’re only fooling ourselves. A claim like that is errant nonsense... If we admit our sins... He’ll forgive our sins and purge us of all wrongdoing.”

[Let’s Slow Down for a Second...]

Everyone sins. The difference is what you do about it. God isn’t looking for perfect people—He’s looking for honest ones.

Sin is anything that goes against the values of God. And this isn’t a guessing game. God has revealed what He loves (and what He doesn’t) in Scripture. If you have the Holy Spirit, you’ll feel it—those nudges of conviction that whisper, “This isn’t it.” That’s not guilt to crush you—it’s grace pulling you back.

Confession is how we respond. It's not about shame. It’s about bringing what’s broken into the light so God can heal it. You can’t hide your sin and expect freedom.

Think About It...

Why do people sometimes hide sin from God, even though He already knows?

What would change in your life if you believed God wants to forgive you?

[Go Deeper]

📖 Proverbs 28:13 – “Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy.”

📖 Psalm 32:5 – “Then I acknowledged my sin to you... and you forgave.”

📖 Romans 8:1 – “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”

[Reflection]

Is there anything in your life you’re pretending isn’t sin?

How can you respond to God honestly this week?

[Action]

Find a quiet moment today. Ask the Holy Spirit to search your heart. Name anything that needs to come into the light—and then talk to God about it with full honesty. Receive His grace.
